About us
We are a volunteer-run charity. Our aim is to conserve, enhance and celebrate North Berwick - its townscape, heritage and setting.
NB Heritage (formerly North Berwick Environment and Heritage Trust, established in 1972) is a volunteer-run charity, registered in Scotland as a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO): Charity No. SC053977.
Our mission is to conserve, enhance and celebrate North Berwick — its townscape, heritage and setting.
We work to conserve, enhance and celebrate North Berwick's historic environment. We promote high standards of architecture and design, and we encourage the sensitive management of change.
We address wider issues affecting the community, such as traffic and parking, affordable housing and short-term lets, and we work to safeguard our open spaces and natural environment.
We play an educational role by providing resources and learning opportunities.
We carry out projects large and small, and take an inclusive approach to community engagement in all of our events and activities.
We work with others to amplify voices on areas of shared interest.
How we work
Our Trustees are responsible for the way that NB Heritage is managed. Trustees meet once every month to review progress, discuss opportunities and make decisions for the charity.
As a registered charity, we report to the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) each year.
We keep our members up-to-date with newsletters and calls for action, and we invite everyone in the community to take part in our events and activities.
We would love you to become a member and join us!
